Sri Srikalahasteeswara Swamy Temple
Sri Srikalahasteeswara is one of the sacred Pancha Bhuta Stalas — the five Shiva temples representing the five classical elements — and enshrines the Vayu Linga (Lord Shiva as the element of Air/Wind). The temple stands on the banks of the Swarnamukhi River and is among the most significant Shiva shrines in South India. It is especially renowned for the Rahu-Ketu Dosha Nivarana Pooja — a powerful ritual performed to reduce the malefic effects of Rahu and Ketu in one's birth chart. Devotees also perform the Sarpa Dosha Nivarana here. The inner sanctum lamp is said to flicker without any breeze — a divine sign of the Vayu Linga's presence. The temple's gopuram, visible from the highway, rises to a spectacular height and is beautifully illuminated after sunset.
