Sripuram Golden Temple — Sri Lakshmi Narayani
Sripuram is one of the most spectacular temples in India — the entire vimanam (main shrine structure) and the gopuram are covered with 1,500 kg of pure 24-carat gold, applied over intricate hand-crafted carvings. The presiding deity is Sri Mahalakshmi Narayani, a combined form of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Narayana. The temple complex is laid out in the shape of a star, with a 1.8-km spiritual pathway (Tara Parikrama) lined with beautifully sculpted granite figurines, soft lighting and serene water bodies. Walking the path barefoot, with devotional music playing softly, is a profoundly moving experience. The temple is open to all faiths and charges no entry fee — though donations are welcome.
