A Tirumala Kanipakam Kalahasti package that stays close to Tirupati
This Tirumala Kanipakam Kalahasti package is the gentlest of our 2 day pilgrim trips because all three places are within about 75 km of Tirupati. Day one is kept for Tirumala, where the waiting time is unpredictable. Day two covers Srikalahasti and Kanipakam by road, with a comfortable return to Tirupati in the evening. Stay and meals are arranged and paid for by the traveller; Go Tirupati Cabs provides only the vehicle and driver for the whole trip.
Tirumala is covered only as a place the cab takes you to: temple entry, tickets and the queue are handled by the pilgrim directly with the temple trust (TTD), and waiting time on the hill varies a lot, so the driver stays flexible on pick-up.
Srikalahasti: the Vayu linga
Srikalahasti is around 36 km from Tirupati on the road towards Chennai, so a Tirupati to Srikalahasti taxi reaches it in about an hour. The temple stands on the bank of the Swarnamukhi river with the Kannappa hill behind it. It is counted among the Pancha Bhuta Sthalams as the shrine of air, and many pilgrims come for the Rahu-Ketu pooja. Rituals and ticketed services are booked by you at the temple counter or through the devasthanam; we do not book them.
Look for the carved pillared halls, the tall gateway towers and the riverside ghat. Allow about two hours including queue time, longer on Mondays and weekends.
Kanipakam: Varasiddhi Vinayaka
Kanipakam is a Ganesha temple beside the Bahuda river near Chittoor, about 75 km from Tirupati. The idol is known as a self-manifested form, and local belief says it keeps growing. People come to take oaths and settle disputes here, which is a long-standing local custom. A cab from Tirupati to Kanipakam usually takes around one hour forty-five minutes. Temple hours reported online vary, so confirm locally.
How the two days work
Day one: Tirumala in the morning and early afternoon (flexible), return to Tirupati for a stay you book yourself. Day two: leave early for Srikalahasti, finish by mid-morning, drive on to Kanipakam via Tirupati, finish by afternoon, and return to Tirupati. If you have an evening train, tell the driver in advance and he will adjust. Carry cash for offerings, a light bag, and water; phones may need to be left at storage counters at some temples.
Who this package suits
This plan suits families with elders or children, first-time visitors and anyone who wants a slower pace than the long-distance circuits. Because Srikalahasti and Kanipakam are close to Tirupati, you can start day two after a relaxed breakfast and still finish before evening. If you want Tiruchanur or Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati as well, mention it when you book so the driver can fit it into the schedule. Luggage can stay in the vehicle while you visit each temple, though valuables should always be carried with you.
Vehicle choice depends on group size: a sedan for up to four, an Innova-type MUV for larger families, and a tempo traveller for groups. Fuel, tolls, parking and the driver are part of the cab service; entry fees, tickets and your stay are separate and handled by you.
