Adventure and nature tours from Tirupati
Tirupati lies at the foot of the Seshachalam hills, so nature spots begin almost at the city edge. Adventure and nature tours from Tirupati by taxi work well for families, friend groups and school outings that want a break from temple routes. The road distances below are approximate and differ a little between maps, so confirm locally.
Talakona waterfalls and Sri Venkateswara National Park
Talakona lies in the Sri Venkateswara National Park, about 49 to 58 km from Tirupati and roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by road. The waterfall is known as the tallest in Andhra Pradesh and the park trails are popular for short forest walks. A Tirupati to Talakona taxi trip returns in about 110 km, so it fits easily in a day. Trekking permits, entry hours and group limits are set by the forest department, so confirm locally.
The national park also covers wildlife-rich hill forest around Tirumala, but access rules apply. Treat any trek as subject to forest-department permission.
Horsley Hills and Kaigal falls
Horsley Hills is about 127 to 140 km from Tirupati and takes roughly 3 to 3.5 hours. It offers viewpoints, short nature walks and cooler air, and pairs well with Talakona in a two-day plan. Kaigal waterfalls near Palamaner are roughly 100 to 120 km from Tirupati by our estimate, but we could not confirm the exact distance or the best season, so please check locally. Both sites have rough or winding stretches, so a driver who knows the roads helps.
Safety and planning
A good day plan is to leave Tirupati by 7 am, reach Talakona in the morning while the forest is cool, and head back by late afternoon so that you are off the hill roads before dark. Keep plastic out of forest areas, stay on marked paths and respect wildlife. For a second day, Horsley Hills gives a relaxed viewpoint stay without strenuous climbing.
Wet rocks near waterfalls are slippery, and swimming may be restricted, so follow posted signs and forest staff. Carry water, snacks and any medicine, as facilities are thin. Children and elders should avoid steep steps. We provide the vehicle and driver only; permits, entry and activities are arranged by you. See the related pages for the Horsley Hills and Talakona package and for hill station tours.
