Tirumala Vellore Kanchipuram package: the idea

This Tirumala Vellore Kanchipuram package links Tirupati with two Tamil Nadu temple towns on a single loop. Day one is Tirumala followed by an afternoon drive to Vellore, where you can see the Sripuram Golden Temple lit in the evening. Day two goes to Kanchipuram, the old temple and silk town, and ends with the drive back to Tirupati. Stay and meals are arranged and paid for by the traveller; Go Tirupati Cabs provides only the vehicle and driver for the whole trip.

Tirumala is covered only as a place the cab takes you to: temple entry, tickets and the queue are handled by the pilgrim directly with the temple trust (TTD), and waiting time on the hill varies a lot, so the driver stays flexible on pick-up.

Vellore and the Sripuram Golden Temple

The Sri Lakshmi Narayani temple at Sripuram, on the outskirts of Vellore, is built with gold-plated copper sheets and set in a star-shaped path that visitors walk in a long, mostly unshaded route. Entry is reported as free, and a paid fast-track queue is mentioned for weekends. Phones and footwear are kept in storage counters, so go light. If you need a Tirupati to Vellore taxi only for this temple, it can also be done as a long day trip.

The temple area is a large garden compound; allow about two hours. Evening, with the lights and the evening aarti (reported about 6 to 7 pm), is the best time, so try to leave Tirumala by about 1 pm.

Kanchipuram

Kanchipuram is a Sapta Puri pilgrim city with a long list of temples. The two big ones in a half-day plan are the Kamakshi Amman temple and the Ekambareswarar temple, the Shiva shrine associated with earth. Many visitors also see the Varadaraja Perumal temple and buy silk sarees at the weaver cooperatives. Both main temples run a morning and an evening session with a midday break, so reaching the town by about 9:30 am matters. Ask at the temple for any ticketed services; the cab driver does not arrange entry.

Overnight at Vellore and practical notes

Vellore has plenty of hotels, from budget lodges to larger business hotels; you book and pay directly. The driver stays nearby. Start day two by about 7:30 am to cover Kanchipuram before temples close at noon, then leave by about 1:30 pm for Tirupati, reaching by late afternoon. Keep small change for footwear tokens and offerings. Confirm every temple schedule locally, as festival days change them.

Planning the loop sensibly

The loop works because the long leg, Tirumala to Vellore, is done in the afternoon after your time on the hill. Since the hill queue is unpredictable, tell the driver an approximate time to expect your call and keep your phone charged. If the wait runs very long, the evening Sripuram visit may shrink or be skipped; the morning of day two then becomes the place to catch up.

For senior travellers, ask for a vehicle with easy boarding height and plan rest stops at Chittoor and Katpadi. Always carry identity proof, as some temples and hotels ask for it, and keep modest footwear that is easy to remove.

Timings and dress code
