What this one day plan covers
This one day Tirupati temples tour is a local circuit by cab for pilgrims who want to see the main temples around Tirupati in a single day. It links the Padmavathi temple at Tiruchanur, the Govindarajaswami temple, Kapila Teertham, the ISKCON temple, Sreenivasa Mangapuram and Chandragiri Fort.
The hill temple at Tirumala is not part of this day plan. It needs a separate day because of the long queues, the road up and the time involved, so treat it as its own trip.
We provide only the vehicle and a driver who knows the route. Entry, tickets and queues at each temple are handled by the pilgrim directly.
The six stops in brief
Sri Padmavathi temple, Tiruchanur, is the shrine of the consort of Lord Venkateswara and a traditional first stop. Govindarajaswami temple in the city centre is a large Vishnu temple with a tall gopuram.
Kapila Teertham is a Shiva temple at the foot of the hills with a waterfall and pool. The ISKCON temple is a quiet, modern Radha Govinda temple, and Sreenivasa Mangapuram has a temple of Lord Venkateswara in a village setting.
Chandragiri is a historic hill fort with palaces and a small museum, a change of pace from the temples. See our separate pages for each stop for more detail.
Distances and a realistic day
The whole circuit from Tirupati and back is around 55 km, but city traffic and parking add time. The longest hop is the out-and-back to Chandragiri, about 15 km each way from the city.
Temple hours are listed differently across sources, and some places close for a few hours in the afternoon. That is why the plan below starts early and puts the fort and lunch in the middle of the day.
The plan can be reordered. If you have a particular priority, tell the driver at pick-up and we will adjust the order without extra detours.
Practical notes and tips
Wear modest, comfortable clothes and easy-to-remove footwear. Carry water, a light shawl and some cash for small purchases.
A family of four fits in a sedan. Groups of five or more, or with elders and luggage, are more comfortable in an SUV or tempo traveller.
Mobile phone and camera rules vary between temples, so keep valuables in the cab. Lunch can be taken in the city between stops, and options are mostly vegetarian.
If you want to stay overnight in Tirupati, hotels are booked by you directly. We do not book hotels or arrange entry or tickets at any temple.
Timings and dress code
- Timings
- Temple hours differ by source and change on festival days, so confirm each locally. Many open early morning, and some have an afternoon break. Plan around that gap.
- Dress code
- Modest, traditional clothing is expected at most of these temples. Confirm locally for the current rule at each.
Last checked October 2026. Timings and rules can change, so please confirm locally. We provide taxi service only. Temple entry and any tickets are arranged by the pilgrim directly with the temple.
