What the Kalyana Vedika is
The Kalyana Vedika is a TTD facility on Papavinasanam Road in Tirumala for free Hindu weddings. It has been in use since 25 April 2016 and hosted 26,214 weddings up to 1 May 2025, according to Hans India.
Separately, TTD manages paid Kalyanamandapams, which are halls that can be booked for events.
Cost and what TTD provides
The Kalyana Vedika is free of charge. TTD provides a priest, music, turmeric, kumkum and wedding bangles or kankanam. The couple bring the other items, such as the sari, mangalsutra and garlands.
One guide reports a room at about Rs 50, free or low-cost after document verification, with a second room payable. This is unconfirmed.
For the paid Kalyanamandapams, hall rent is not confirmed. One site mentions Rs 20,000-30,000 for a hall of 50-75 capacity, with a security deposit. Treat this as unverified.
Who can marry here
Both families must be Hindu and the marriage must be an arranged one. The bride must be at least 18 and the groom at least 21. Love marriages and second marriages are not performed. Both sets of parents must attend; if they cannot, supporting documents are needed.
Documents to keep ready
Age proof (school certificate, birth certificate, PAN, passport or licence), Aadhaar for both families, an unmarried certificate from the MRO or Tahsildar, the invitation card, passport photos and witnesses. Carry originals for verification.
Booking
Booking has been online since 9 May 2016, and hall booking is online too. The official sites are ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in for the Kalyana Vedika and tirupatibalaji.ap.gov.in for Kalyanamandapam booking. The pilgrim family books there; the taxi company does not book weddings.
An official booking window was not found. One guide suggests booking at least two weeks ahead and notes three days' notice for the Purohit Sangam option. Muhurtham dates and festival days are crowded, so book early for auspicious dates. Cancellation and refund rules were not found.
On the day
Hans India says to reach Tirumala about six hours before the time, while another guide suggests a day early for verification. Carry your acknowledgment letter. Verification is at the Kalyana Vedika or SMC office, reportedly 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The ceremony takes about 30-40 minutes and is held in batches by muhurtham. A Hindu Marriage Sub-Registrar's office at the Vedika handles registration. Documents include the wedding photograph, the receipt and the MRO unmarried certificate.
After the wedding, reports say TTD arranges darshan for the couple and parents. Hans India says six people through the Rs 300 special-entry route with one free laddu each, while another guide says the couple plus four relatives. This is a TTD arrangement, not ours.
